"I am the poster child for the fact that tomorrow is not promised, so
we must take advantage of the opportunities we are given today. Please,
please, please don’t miss an opportunity to tell the people that you
belong to that you love and appreciate them; that your life is better
because they’re in it." |

ForwardI created this website for my father, John Dickson. He was my hero. I remember in the spring of 2004 my Father and I attended a showing of the film The Agronomist at the South By SouthWest Film Festval. The film was so moving that afterward the entire audience simply sat and stared at the blank screen. I was discussing it with my father later, and he comented that the filmmakers had a story they HAD to tell. I often wondered what that would be like. Now I know. In an effort to both educate and enlighten his friends, family, and anyone who wanted to listen, Dad began an e-mail newsletter designed to both document his journey, and serve as a periodic update about his battle. He later published an archive of these e-mails on livejournal.com, but they have been re-published here, on the offical site. The FoundationMy mother and I decided when my Dad passed away that instead of people sending flowers, we would have them send money to a foundation in his name. This website is also the online home for that foundation. The goal of the foundation is to promote the awarness of, sponsor research concerning, and ultimately help find a cure for: Renal Cell Carcinoma, or Kidney Cancer. Learn About Kidney CancerIn addition to sharring my Father's journey with you, this website - being the official website of the John Dickson Kidney Cancer Foundation, would be somewhat lacking if it didn't include a wealth of information about Kidney Cancer. With that in mind, we are embarking on a journey of our own; to build a website with many resources that could be of use to someone dealing with Kidney Cancer. I will add to the site as I come accross information, and as time permits, but please, please, please: if you have any information that you think would be useful on this site, e-mail me and let me know.
